ww2dbaseThe HMS Ameer was originally built for the US Navy as USS Bafins Bay (AVG-35). She was transferred to the Royal Navy on 19 July 1943, where she would be commissioned as a Ruler-class carrier, participating in escort missions and supporting amphibious assaults. The Ameer assisted British troops in attacking Malaya and Burma in 1945.
ww2dbaseAfter the war, she was returned to the United States on 17 Jan 1946 and renamed the Robin Kirk in 1948. She was scrapped in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in 1969.
