ww2dbaseThe Type 91 105 mm howitzers were designed by the engineers of the Osaka Arsenal starting in 1927 and entered production in 1931 as Japanese Army's standard divisional howitzers. From the early 1930s through the early years of the Second Sino-Japanese War, they were transported on wooden wheels, but they were later replaced by steel wheels with pneumatic tires for motored transportation. 1,100 were manufactured. A number of them were captured by both Nationalist and Communist Chinese forces during WW2, and were used during the subsequent Chinese Civil War.Source: Wikipedia. ww2dbase
