ww2dbaseIn Jul 1933, the Japanese Army began developing a replacement to the Type 11 infantry gun design. The prototype Type 94 37-millimeter anti-tank gun was tested in 1935, and the production began in 1936. Four guns were typically assigned to each infantry regiment, each manned by a crew of 11 men. They had an effective range of 2,870 meters and a maximum range of 4,500 meters. They saw combat in China and Russia in the late 1930s, achieving effectiveness. As the Japanese Army recognized that these weapons were becoming obsolete, production ceased in 1941 after 3,400 examples were built. Type 94 guns remained in active service until the end of the Pacific War in 1945.Source: Wikipedia ww2dbase
