ww2dbaseThe Model 35 grenades made by Breda had ribbed bodies and were painted red. On impact, the fuses detonated the 2 ounce of TNT found in each of the grenades. The fuses were known to be defective on a regular basis, but by picking up the duds, sometimes the fuses would suddenly function, leading to this grenades' nickname as "Red Devils"; this nickname would later be applied to other models of Italian grenades.
