- British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain finally agreed to hold a talk with the Soviet Union. - The United States Navy Fleet Auxiliary USS Dixie was launched at the New York Shipbuilding Corporation shipyard in Camden, New Jersey, United States. Under the command of Lieutenant Commander G. H.
