1 Apr 1943 | The Mako Guard District at Pescadores islands, Taiwan was transferred to Takao in southern Taiwan, and it was renamed the Takao Guard District. Vice Admiral Takeo Takagi remained the guard district's commanding officer. |
10 Jun 1943 | Vice Admiral Masakuni Yamagata was named the commanding officer of Takao Guard District in southern Taiwan. |
30 Nov 1943 | Vice Admiral Ryozo Fukuda was named the commanding officer of Takao Guard District in southern Taiwan. |
1 Feb 1944 | A personnel office and a naval infantry unit were established at Takao Guard District in southern Taiwan. |

30 Apr 1945 | US 22nd Bombardment Group aircraft dropped 142 250-pound bombs on Japanese Navy Oil Refinery No. 6 (USAAF referred to this facility as the "Toshien Oil Refinery") at Toshien District, Takao (now Zuoying District, Kaohsiung), Taiwan. A direct hit was scored on the eastern-most oil tank, and the resulting black smoke rose to the altitude of 5,000 feet. |
10 May 1945 | Vice Admiral Kiyohide Shima was named the commanding officer of Takao Guard District in southern Taiwan. |
22 Jun 1945 | 3 B-24 bombers of 65th Bomb Squadron, USAAF 43rd Bombardment Group attacked Japanese Navy Oil Refinery No. 6 (USAAF referred to this facility as the "Toshien Oil Refinery") at Takao (now Zuoying District, Kaohsiung), Taiwan with several 1,000-pound bombs. Smoke and cloud cover prevented the observation of bomb damage. |
30 Apr 1946 | The Takao Guard District in southern Taiwan was officially disbanded. |
