Not all were Military personnel. The Americans simply rounded up any German appearing in any sort of uniform, including postmen and railway porters and herded them into this camp. With lack of shelter, medical care and adequate foot supplies the mortality rate among the 'prisoners' was high.

Thats True, My Grandfather was in the German Army and Surrendered near Remagen, Happy to be a US Army POW, Survived that camp, only to be traded to the French as a POW until 1948 !
