Note the gantry crane over the Pearl Harbor drydocks in the background. Note also the dredge Turbine directly behind Kitty Hawk’s crane. The Turbine is in almost the same location in the channel as it was during the Pearl Harbor Attack 4 months earlier. The only battleship to get underway during the attack, the Nevada, was forced to run dead slow down the channel to maneuver around this dredge which allowed the Japanese pilots to accurately pound the ship with bombs causing the Nevada to abandon its sortie just after passing the dredge.
