New WW2 Multimedia Website
We recently came across a new WW2 website, WW2History.com, created by the former Creative Director of History Programs for the BBC, Laurence Rees. This site's main focus is multimedia, using documentary footage and interviews with contemporary historians to present and analyze key events of WW2. Another promising section is the Interactive Timeline that outlines key events of WW2, with links leading to the featured articles and videos of each event.
The site is new, so we are disappointed to see so some placeholders with no content. For example, articles and videos on Winston Churchill, the Einstein letter, and the Monte Cassino attack areas of the site are still forthcoming. This will be improved over time, no doubt.
This site also has a members only section that is available only to paid subscribers. Some of the premium content available to paid members include lesson plans targeted specifically for history teachers, monthly competitions for prizes, and access to a larger library of videos. The fee for an one-day pass is £3.95; monthly subscription fee is £5.95 for the first month and is discounted to £2.95 for subsequent months.
