This article refers to the entire MAS-class; it is not about an individual vessel.

ww2dbaseThe Motoscafo armato silurante, "torpedo-armed motorboat", shortened to MAS, was a class of fast torpedo-armed vessels used by the Italian Navy starting in WW1, securing their place in the navy after the successful sinking of battleship SMS Wien in Dec 1917 and battleship SMS Szent István in Jun 1918. By the WW2-era, MAS boats remained in service as multipurpose vessels capable of independent patrols. Abroad, they serviced in the Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, Baltic Sea, and Lake Ladoga.
