ww2dbaseDelhi was commissioned after the end of WW1 and served in the Royal Navy during the inter-war period. Between May and Dec 1941, after the European War of WW2 had started, she was refitted as an anti-aircraft cruiser at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, New York, United States. She served mostly in the Mediterranean Sea during WW2. On 12 Feb 1945, she was heavy damaged by German motor boats while in the harbor at Split, Croatia. After returning to Britain, it was decided that she was not to be repaired due to her age. She was sold for scrap to A. J. Cashmore on 22 Jan 1948, and was broken up starting in Mar at Newport, Wales, Britain.
