SdKfz 6
Country | Germany |
Primary Role | Transport |
Contributor: C. Peter Chen
ww2dbaseThe SdKfz 6 half-track vehicles were originally designed as the towing vehicles for the 10.5 cm leFH 18 howitzers, but the high cost led to Germany Army's selection for cheaper vehicles for their replacements. They were phased out of their originally intended role as artillery towing vehicles by 1941 and most of them remained in service as troop carriers. A small number of them were converted to carry larger weapons such as the 3.7 cm FlaK 36/37 anti-aircraft gun.
