ww2dbaseThe development of what would eventually be designated 21 cm Kanone 38 (21 cm K 38) heavy howitzers began in 1938. They entered service in 1941. By 1943, only a total of eight examples were built as the German Army lacked interest in 21-centimeter caliber weapons. One example was shipped to Japan for study via submarine, while some of the remaining were used for coastal defense.
