  • Submarine USS Narwhal arrived at Mios Woendi, Dutch New Guinea (now Papua, Indonesia). Narwhal's fourteenth war patrol was concluded. All passengers were disembarked and transported to the base hospital. On arrival, Commander William Holman relieved Commander Jack Titus as Narwhal's commanding officer. Commander Titus was awarded the Legion of Merit for his exceptionally meritorious conduct during this patrol. ww2dbase [Narwhal | Mios Woendi | DS]
