- American troops landed at Inchon, Korea to prevent the Soviet Union from breaking the previous agreement for Soviet troops to only occupy northern Korea. The US commanding officer, Lieutenant General John Hodge, also arrived on the same day. Not yet briefed in the Korean political situation and lacking any staff officers who were knowledgeable about Korea, Hodge declined to meet the delegation from the Committee for the Preparation for Korean Independence. ww2dbase [Manchurian Strategic Offensive | Inchon | CPC]
