- While making a submerged reconnaissance survey of Jaluit Atoll, submarine USS Spearfish suffered a fire in the main control cubicle resulting in the boat losing all electrical power. The submarine began to sink while frantic repairs were begun. At a depth of 150 feet, power was restored and Spearfish was able to return to periscope depth. ww2dbase [Spearfish | Jaluit | DS]
