- 80th Fighter Squadron (flying P-38 aircraft) of USAAF 80th Fighter Group was transferred out of Dobodura Airfield, Australian Papua. ww2dbase [Dobodura Airfield | Dobodura | CPC]
- All three battalions of the US 5307th Composite Unit (Provisional) arrived at the village of Tanja Ga in Burma about 22 miles east-northeast of Ningbyen. The village was the assembly area from which they would commence its campaign against the Japanese. Joseph Stilwell ordered the unit to begin marching toward Malawbum, 40 miles away, as soon as possible. - The USAAF 306th Bomb Group flying from RAF Thurleigh launched a bombing raid against rocket launching facilities near Trouville, France. ww2dbase [Bombing of Cities in France and Low Countries | RAF Thurleigh | Trouville | DS]
- An experimental Wasserfall radio controlled anti-aircraft rocket was launched from Griefswalder Oie, an island near Peenemünde, Germany. The missile, intended for the defence of German cities, reached a height of 23,000 feet, a third of what had been hoped for.
