- Vice President Mohammad Hatta of Indonesia, under pressure from socialist members of the government Sutan Sjahrir and Amir Sjarifuddin, issued an order allowing the formation of opposition political parties. Indonesian socialists had declared their political party two days prior. ww2dbase [CPC]
- Cho Mansik founded the Democratic Party of Korea in northern Korea to challenge Soviet influence. The party enjoyed initial support from land owners and Christian communities. ww2dbase [CPC]
