22 Jun 1938 McCall was commissioned into service.
27 Dec 1942 Escort carriers USS Nassau and USS Altamaha escorted by cruisers USS St. Louis and HMS Achilles with destroyers USS Nicholas, USS McCalla, USS McCall, and USS Craven departed Nouméa, New Caledonia bound for Espiritu Santo, New Hebrides.
30 Dec 1942 Escort carriers USS Nassau and USS Altamaha escorted by cruisers USS St. Louis and HMS Achilles with destroyers USS Nicholas, USS McCalla, USS McCall, and USS Craven arrived at Espiritu Santo, New Hebrides.
30 Nov 1945 McCall was decommissioned from service.
