Hi, I believe my father William E. Garner may have served on the USS Puffer. I was hoping you might check the list of her crew for my father's name.

Paul Garner (above):
William Elmer Garner does appear in the Puffer Muster Rolls. The records list his service number as 650 35 92 and say he enlisted 4 Mar 1942 in Philadelphia, PA. As a Fireman 1st class (engine room), he was received aboard Puffer 7 Nov 1943 from USS Bluefish in Freemantle, Australia. He had a change of rating while aboard Puffer to Motor Machinist Mate 3rd class effective 1 Jan 1944. He was transferred off Puffer 19 Apr 1944, again at Freemantle, having completed one patrol aboard Puffer (Puffer’s 3rd patrol). He also appears in the Muster Rolls for Gunnel, Tuna, Pelias, Grayling, and Bluefish.

Was wondering if you could confirm my grandfather, Loren Prettyman III service on the Puffer and share any facts available regarding his service. Would be much appreciated. Thank you!
