Mediterranean Sea
  • British submarine HMS Rover (Lieutenant Commander H. A. L. Marsham, RN) torpedoed and damaged the Italian tanker Cesco (6,161-ton) south-east of Capo Rizzuto, Calabria, Italy. The tanker ran ashore, and the tug Salvatore Primo (763-ton) was sent to her assistance and was later joined by the tug Titano (788-ton).
