I have a copy list of all the production Spitfire's and the seafires in details of combat and testing and at the scrapping interesting reading this one shown in photo was shot down by the US NAVY as friendly fire

Note the sentry standing at right armed with an M1 Garand rifle. Curiously he has Army T/Cpl stripes on his sleeve but a Navy (Coast Guard?) Shore Patrol armband.
