Certainly this is the IJN Yamato Class, but how do you know this is Yamato and not Musashi? Besides 27 knots was supposed to be the full speed during trials, that the Japanese claimed the Yamato and Musashi did, so turning at full speed was not possible. A speed run for tabulating the max speed is always run on a measured course of several miles, and is measured with such factors of 'full load or standard displacements', and for a specified amount of time.
Certainly this is an impressive picture, but the 27 knots is not accurate, especially according to the claim records of the Japanese designers.
Possibly this Yamato Class is going full out, for whatever the max speed was while doing the manouvar, but it was also being chased here, as this is one of the classic pics of when she was photo'd in one of the rare times they were seen.

It's actually the Musashi during its speed tests or at least that's what the Japanese description in the photo said, but I don't think there is any way to know which ship it is.
