Red border around National Insignia on wing suggests this was taken between 28-Jun-1943 and 14-Sep-1943 (red border only lasted three-and-a-half months). But Blue border around National Insignia on fuselage suggests this was taken very shortly after the change, i.e., soon after 14-Sep-1943.

During WWII the US Government Printing Office
produced different types of posters.
One poster had a B-17 gunner facing an attacking Focke-Wulf Fw 190 the caption said
Who's afraid of the "Big Bad Wulf"
when all the gunner's saw this poster, they
signed all of them and returned them, saying
"We Are!!"

B-17G (S/N 43-8091) on bomb run over the
Focke-Wulf plant at Marienburg, Oct. 1943.

Note new replacement outer wing panels, and the weathered effect on the rest of the
fortress.

B-17G 43-8091 was a Douglas built aircraft
one of 2,395 completed by Douglas.
Boeing built 4,035 and Lockheed built 2,250
