"Moscow will be defended to the last."

-Joseph Stalin Order of the day, Oct. 1941-

Germany's offensive against the Soviet Union
should have been another success for Hitler
instead the outcome was the first major reverse for the German Army proving, that Hitler was not invincible after all. Axis
forces suffered 918,000 casualties in Russia
in 1941, almost 1/3 of the forces initial
strength.
During the battle for Moscow from Oct. 1941
to Jan. 1942 650,000 Russian soldiers died,
this was about 50% of the men fighting on the Eastern Front.
The Soviet attacks forced the Germans to
retreat up to 175 miles from Moscow! the city
was saved and Hitler did not try to take the
city again. Despite suffering heavy losses,
the German Army was able to rebuild its forces for new operations on the Eastern Front in 1942.

"Nobody respects a country with a poor army,
but everybody respects a country with a good
army. I raise my toast to the Finish Army".

-Joseph Stalin-
1948

German and Russian losses on the Eastern
Front were about One German Soldier Killed
to every Fifteen Russian Soldiers Killed.
This does not count the Wounded, Missing or
Captured.
The causalities would continue until Russian Forces Capture Berlin, and World War II ends
on May 8, 1945.

TIME MAGAZINE DOES IT AGAIN:

In 1940 Stalin was one of the most hated men in the world. He even made the cover of Time magazine, as man of the year.
During World War II Roosevelt and Churchill
even called this brutal man "Uncle Joe".
Stalin made himself a virtual demigod and Soviet childern even learned to pray to him instead of God!

HATE THY NEIGHBOR, KILL THY NEIGHBOR:

Stalin and the Communist Party ruled Russia
through fear, torture, hate, suspicion,gulag
salvery and murder. Stalin even created the largest man-made famine that killed over
20,000,000 thats twenty million Ukrainians
that starved to dealth.

THE LESSER OF TWO EVILS:

The Democracies Allied with this brutal man to defeat another brutal man, Adolf Hitler, Roosevelt was convinced he could work with Stalin, Churchill on the other hand wasn't charmed by Stalin, and never really trusted him. They worked together to defeat Hitler the alliance was not coddual and didn't last past the end of WWII.

Stalin was a murderous human being he had no thought about killing to achieve his own ends and his name is forever linked with purges, pogroms, terror and death.

Pogrom: Russian word meaning wreaking havoc.
Violence targeting ethnic or religious groups
killing, destruction of homes.

TERROR NEVER SLEEPS:

The KGB was one of the Cold Wars largest intelligence services that employed over
200,000 staff, and operated all over the world.
Even before the Communist the Tsars had its
own secret service called the OKHRANA in 1917 then changed to CHEKA in 1922, and then
to O.G.P.U. and again to N.K.V.D. later to
M.V.D. in 1943 changed to N.K.G.B. the last change in 1953 to K.G.B.

NEW PLAYERS, SAME DANCE DIFFERENT TUNE:

The Russian Federation now has the SVR the successor to the KGB, and you also have the
PGU and the FSB and who knows what else, but
its business as usual.

CAN I TELL YOU A LITTLE SECRET, CAN I TELL YOU IF YOU CARE, COME A LITTLE CLOSER:

Secrets have a price those who steal them, those who sell and buy them and those who use them...the question is, how many have died defending them, and how many have died
trying to steal, buy and sell them...

FAVORITE SON:

Did you know that Stalin didn't learn Russian until he was eight years old. His native language was Georgian.

UNFORTUNATE SONS & DAUGHTERS

80% of all Russians born in 1923 died in WWII just about every family suffered the loss of a Father, Mother, Wife, Husband, Son, Brother, Daughter, Uncle, Aunt, Cousin and Niece. This isn't counting your Friends, Neighbors and others that a family would know of...

TERROR INCORPORATED:

Stalin murdered millions upon millions as well as other political prisoners lost to his regime and their deaths not counted. Millions were deported and exiled to remote areas within the Soviet Union, or died due to famine, even today the debate continues as to how many people really died.

MORBID SENSE OF HUMOR:

Stalin would invite over for dinner different Government Officials, Engineers and others that were given official duties by Stalin that were lagging behind schedule to be carried out for him.
Stalin would point fingers at these officials and rant about the delays. As the guests were about to leave, they started to call for their cars to take them back but were told a special car would return them. As they were driven back to Moscow, they would see Lubyanka Prison the Headquarters
of the NKVD Secret Police as the car slowed in front of the prison, it would then make a left or right turn to take Stalin's guest back to their apts...I'm sure that experience would scare the hell out of any sane person or get them to move a little faster.

"You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terrors. Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."
