R & R for the troops public relations with
the locals.
During the early part of the Invasion of Russia, the people looked upon the Germans as liberators from Communist rule.
If Adolf had been real smart, and with the millions of Russian soldiers taken POW had them return to the field, and march on to Moscow with the Germans right behind them
World War II would have been much different.
The Russian people had to endure another
fifty years of Communist rule, before the
collapse of the USSR.
With Russia out of the war, who knows what would have happened with a war on one front? and what the Wehrmacht could have done.
